On September 19, 2019 Grays Creek Station 18 Celebrated their new Station Construction Celebration. The new 2 million station is being build on 7 acres of land across the street from the current Station 18 on Fire Department Road.
Standing under the frame of the new Gray’s Creek Volunteer Fire Department Station 18 are, left to right, Cumberland County Commissioner Larry Lancaster, Cumberland County Fire Chiefs’ Association President Freddy Johnson Sr., Commissioner Jimmy Keefe, Chairwoman Dr. Jeannette Council, Commissioner Glenn Adams, Vice Chair Marshall Faircloth and Gray’s Creek Station 18 Fire Chief Kevin Herndon.
Fayetteville Fire Chief Michael Hill presented "Unit Citation Award" to Fayetteville Fire Department members assigned to Engine 5 and Cumberland Road Fire Department Engine 532 during the April 2019 Association meeting.
Both crews working concurrently during a working structure fire on January 31, 2019 involving a life hazard, successfully removed the elderly occupant, thus saving a life.
